Polymer Chemist

The Polymer Chemist carries out product testing and enhancement activities within the Adsorbents Group, supporting corporate and customer treatment objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops new formulations and enhances existing formulations of adsorbent products.
  • Oversees the synthesis and scale-up of new products and product improvements.
  • Develops physical and chemical characterization protocols for existing and new product development efforts.
  • Conducts product performance evaluations, defining chemical and physical attributes of adsorbent products.
  • Generates detailed laboratory reports summarizing research and development efforts.
  • Carries out other related tasks and projects as required.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Education: Science-related degree or diploma.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science or higher in Chemistry with emphasis in Adsorbent or Materials Chemistry
  • Experience: At least 2 years in formulation, synthesis and application of specialty adsorbents
  • Preferred:
  • • Experience in metal organic framework (MOF) synthesis
  • • Analytical method development
  • • Familiar with TGA (thermal gravimetric analyzer)
  • Self-driven results oriented
  • Able to communicate written and verbal- good skills face to face and by phone.
  • Experienced with industry accepted analytical testing methods and equipment.
  • Adept in MS Office, Excel and Word
  • Critical thinking skills and good judgment
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and diverse groups of stakeholders

Technical Writer

We are looking for a Technical Writer to work with Team Leads to create monthly project update reports as well as produce a variety of internal and external reports and publications. Specific tasks encompass planning, designing, writing, interviewing, editing, producing and maintaining documentation, while ensuring that the documentation products meet the needs of their audiences and are delivered accurately and promptly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Learns all facets of manufacturing process including slurry preparation, coating, screen printing, bonding, cutting, bed manufacture, bed packaging, bed testing and QC testing.
  • Receives status reports from Team Leads, compiles reports and creates consolidated status reports. Meets with Team Leads as required to gather additional information and seek clarity.
  • Receives reports from Project Coordinators and creates project updates.
  • Combines and compiles various internal reports and generates external reports for the Board, investors and customers on status of technology development.
  • Develops and maintains company technical documentation using authoring and publishing software.
  • Applies structured authoring principles in the development of documentation.
  • Researches and writes white papers on company products.
  • Provides editorial support to writers and others in the company.
  • Assists Marketing in developing, implementing and maintaining documentation style guides, authoring procedures and CSS’s (for online documents).
  • Keeps up to date with new industry methods and technologies to streamline documentation processes and improve department productivity.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Education: Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in English or a Communications-related discipline, with training in technical communication.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ technical writing experience in a hi-tech environment involving technology/product development
  • Technical: Adobe FrameMaker, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Project, PowerPoint
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of hard products (mechanical, electrical and/or electronics)
  • Track record of publications in reputable industry journals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate difficult concepts clearly in plain language orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of structured authoring and single-sourcing methodologies and tools. Familiarity with usability principles in software design is an asset.
  • Ability to research information independently and to analyze, synthesize and act on the acquired information. Critical thinking skills and good judgment
